Using letterhead templates with Word
Once you have used our template maker to create your own custom letterhead templates you will probably want to use them when writing letters using Word. This step by step guide will show you how to do it.
[clear]- Click on the letterhead template that you would like to use.
- Upload your logo if you have chosen a design with a logo. Some of the letterhead examples have logos and some don’t. Some of them can be created either with or without a logo. You can always add a logo even if the template does not have one. To add a logo click on the following icon which is right above the paper:
- Type the business name, address, phone numbers, web address, email address and any other text that you would like to include.
- If you would like to add additional text click on this icon:
- Download the letterhead as an image by clicking on this icon:
- Open a new blank Word document (File -> New -> Create)
- From the Insert tab, select image and insert the image that you downloaded.
- Right click on your mouse and click on “wrap text”. Choose the “behind text” option.
- Enlarge the image so that it covers the entire page.
- From the Insert tab click on “insert text box” and choose a “simple text box”.
- Move the text box to the correct position (i.e. where you would like your text to appear) and enlarge it so that it covers the entire area on which you can type your letter.
- Print a copy with dummy text to ensure that it prints well and that all text are within the page margins.
- Correct if necessary.
- Save the document as a Word template. Click “save as” and type in a name such as “letterhead template” and then in the next line next to “save as type” choose “template.
- When you want to write a letter open Word and click on file-> new -> new from existing -> choose the template that you previously saved.
